HOUSTON – Police are looking for two men seen near the site of an illegally killed deer in Kingwood.
A couple of birdwatchers came upon the men after hearing gunshots near the greenbelt trails and the east fork of the San Jacinto River on Oct. 15, Houston Police say.
When the couple asked the men about the gunshots, they ran off and disappeared, but not before the couple took several photos.
The men were seen wearing camouflaged clothing.
The couple later found a dead deer with a gunshot wound.
Police say the killers of that deer committed a number of offenses,
including:
— Hunting without landowner’s permission
— Hunting with a gun during bow season
— Killing a buck with antlers that did not have a 13-inch inside spread
The area, where this happened, is usually underwater, but the recent drought changed that. The property is owned by the city.
