Man dies after a hunting accident in Anderson County

The Anderson County Coroner’s office said one man is dead after a hunting accident.
They said it happened Thursday afternoon on the 8000 block of Highway 24 in Townville. The coroner said the man was hunting with his son.
The victim was transported by Lifeflight to AnMed Emergency Department. Michael Rogers, 43, died from his injuries at 6:59 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the coroner.
The coroner said the investigation indicates the victim was in a tree stand hunting with his son, when he fell from the stand about 18 feet to the ground. The victim had been ill recently and may have fallen as a result of an underlying medical illness. The victim sustained a severe neck injury resulting in his death.
The manner of death has been classified as accidental.
The investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the Department of Natural Resources-Law Enforcement Division.
