Child hospitalized after accidental shooting while squirrel hunting, officials say

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) said they are investigating after a hunting accident left a child hospitalized on Monday.

According to SCDNR officials, a child was shot in the stomach while squirrel hunting in Anderson County.

Officials said the shooting was an accidental self-inflicted wound.

The child was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The age of the child has not been released at this time.
