Former Central Michigan University Quarterback Thomas (Tommy) Lazzaro was killed in a hunting incident on Sunday, Dec. 22 the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed with News 10. The incident happened at the Eglin Air Force Base in Walton County, Florida Sunday afternoon and the 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said it appears to be a tragic hunting accident. All parties involved remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation.
Lazzaro played for the Chippewas for four seasons and set his career high for passing yards with 153 in a trip to East Lansing to face the Michigan State Spartans in 2018. At the end of his playing career, he joined the U.S. Army. He had since climbed up the ranks to Sergeant.
