Man Killed by Stray Bullet During Goose Hunt

A man in his thirties died from a stray bullet during a goose-hunting trip yesterday. The incident is under investigation as an accident.

Emergency responders, helicopter dispatched

A man in his thirties died yesterday after being struck by a stray bullet near the Hálslón reservoir, north of the Vatnajökull glacier. The man was participating in a group goose-hunting trip.

The East Iceland Police have confirmed that while the on-site investigation is complete, the broader inquiry into the incident remains ongoing. The police are treating the man’s death as an accident.

According to a press release yesterday, the East Iceland Police received a report of the accident shortly before 8 AM yesterday. Emergency responders, police, and a Coast Guard helicopter were immediately dispatched. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
