Emergency crews in Lawrence County responded Saturday morning to rescue an injured deer hunter who was in a wooded area, according to authorities.
On Saturday, Lawrence County 911 received an emergency call reporting an injured deer hunter in a remote wooded area off County Road 90 in the Wren community.
Moulton Fire & Rescue was dispatched and deployed a firefighter/Advanced EMT who hiked into the forest using GPS coordinates to reach the injured deer hunter.
According to Lawrence County EMA, medical care was initially provided on the scene.
Due to the rough terrain and distance from the roadway, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team and the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) were also activated.
Lawrence County EMA told News 19 that an all-terrain utility vehicle from the EMA was deployed to assist responders in reaching the hunter and safely transported him out of the woods.
The hunter was then transferred to Lawrence County EMS and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Moulton Fire & Rescue, Lawrence County 911, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, Lawrence County EMA, and Lawrence County EMS all assisted during the incident.
